    Registrar's Report

For the month April 2008. Updated April 30, 2008

    Touched by You

For over three decades, ISRR has served many thousands of new registrants each year. On average, we have around a quarter of a million active registrations in our system at any given time. The volunteers and staff have been repeatedly touched by calls, letters, notes, cards and photos from those who have been matched through this registry. It is a phenomenal place to be involved.

Each week when I watch "Extreme Home Makeover" on Sunday night, I find myself crying at some point, and thinking how incredible it must be to work on that, or similar, shows and get to make such a difference in people's lives. Then, without fail, I chuckle out loud because I realize that is exactly what I get to do!

What a blessing it is to be able to serve in this way. How uplifting to be able to make a difference in these important relationships and to be allowed to share such personal moments with those we reunite. All of us at ISRR, are perpetually reminded how grateful we are to have this opportunity.

Last week we had our annual board meeting and everyone talked about how much we love our involvement. For many, that has now been for over thirty years, and it is still as emotional and rewarding as it was in the beginning. ISRR has been through changes, grown enormously, but the core purpose remains exactly the same ... and our hearts are continually filled by what we get to do.

We are a FREE registry, because we share the vision of our founder, Emma May Vilardi, who believed no one should be punished because they could not afford to register. She would certainly be proud to see that her dream continues to touch so many lives. She would be amazed to know that so many registrants make donations to guarantee that the service is uninterrupted.

Please take the time to let us know when your search is completed, and if ISRR has been a part of that in any way, we all love to hear the results of our efforts and your experiences. Consider allowing us to utilize your story on this website. Your experience and insight could have an great impact on someone else.

From everyone at ISRR -- we wish for each of you to be reunited with the family you seek ... by the best and easiest means possible!

Missing Registrants

Since Spring of 2007 we revisited 54 older and unresolved matches, where one or more of the registrants did not keep their contact information current with ISRR. Most of those have been concluded. However, the following need more information from one or both of the registrants - to determine if it is indeed a match. Often only a current address or phone number is required to put the parties together.

WA 08-21-1961 - Closed Case

If you think your address or phone number may be out-of-date with ISRR, please click on UPDATE , download the form, fill it out, sign it and mail to ISRR. Until the Imaging Project is finished, our staff will not be able to take updates or changes over the phone, by fax or email. We are sorry for this inconvenience, however, ask you to understand that we are working just as fast and hard as possible ... there is only so much of us to go around!

Get More Info ~ A few months ago we had a match for twins. One thought she might have a twin, the other had no knowledge of having a twin. Neither had acquired non-identifying information from the state or agency. There is always hope and usually ways to acquire more data on your family. We want to encourage you to click on "Get More Info" for guidelines to assist you in acquiring additional information. So often, one more piece can complete the puzzle or help us determine relationship. Gather as much information as you can and please remember to send us updates.

Please always remember that you are not alone. We receive many thousands of new registrations each year and do matches nearly every single day. There are search and support resources all over the world, and hundreds of thousands who have gone before you in a quest for family.

We work hard to keep this registry free to registrants and are grateful for your generous contributions which allows this service to continue uninterrupted since 1975.
