You Can Support ISRR in Many Ways

There are many unique ideas for helping ensure that ISRR can continue reuniting families. We have been blessed by the generosity of those we serve and for over 30 years have been able to keep the lights on, doors open and phones answered. It is the giving nature of individuals which has made it possible for this registry to be here for you.

In the coming months we will include additional information on bequests, trusts and other ways to plan for your future and ours.

    Immediate Needs

At this time, our number one priority is to complete the preservation of all registrations through imaging, and to increase accessibility by making it easier to register and update information. Volunteers and staff have worked diligently for several years and are hoping to see completion of the imaging project in 2007. This has taken a major commitment of volunteer time and was funded entirely by contributions sent in from registrants and their families. It is already making matches more efficient and reunions happen faster.

The immediate need is for additional funds to add the extra hands and expertise to complete this as quickly as possible. When the scanning and indexing are completed, the staff will again be more available by phone and online registration can be expedited. Your donations really make a difference here.

In addition, please take a look at the wish list below.

    Volunteers

The new computer system already has Canada, all foreign countries and 45 states completed. These were scanned and indexed in order to create a Virtual Registry where our staff can now work from almost anywhere in the world. We still have 3 states to go and can use all the help humanly possible. If you live in the Las Vegas Area and wish to volunteer, please leave a at 888-886-4777 extension 1.

    Leave a Legacy

Endowments make possible the future of ISRR's service to persons seeking reunions with family members from whom they have been separated. Endowed funds provide support that is reliable, because it is perpetual. An endowment is a fund established in perpetuity for a specific purpose, stated by the donor. Earnings from an endowed fund are used to carry out the donor's purpose while the principle is safeguarded.

There are a number of  ways to give creatively and offer vital on-going assistance to the work of this registry. As with all estate and tax planning, it is advised that you consult your attorney or estate specialist as a guide in evaluating your individual financial circumstances. • Gifts of Assets -- This could include property, land, homes, stock, antiques, vehicles or other assets.
  • Life Insurance -- You can name one or more charities as the alternate or primary beneficiary. Or if you do not need the policy proceeds any longer, you can transfer ownership of the policy to a charity.
  • Living Trusts - Set up to operate during your lifetime and can be revocable or irrevocable
  • Charitable Remainder Trust -- Established for life of the donor and/or the beneficiary and is irrevocable. Once established it cannot be changed.
  • Wills / Bequests -- Gifts of property or assets to the non-profit as beneficiary.

    Restricted

    • Honoring Someone -- If you wish to honor a special person or provide specific support to a program or goal that means a lot to you, you can designate your bequest in that manner.

    Unrestricted

    • Securities -- Stock or mutual fund shares can be used to benefit the designated non-profit.
    • Cash -- Sums of cash given directly to a charity.
    • Contingent -- If the primary intention isn't met or primary beneficiary does not survive the donor, this will ensure that the property will not be distributed to unintended beneficiaries.
  • Charitable Gift Annuity -- Can provide tax benefits for you now and a lifetime income for the donor and beneficiary if so desired.
  • Life Estate -- Federal Law defines this gift plan to allow the donation of a personal residence so the donor retains the right to 'life enjoyment' for a specified number of years or one or more lifetimes. All expenses remain the donor's responsibility, and they receive various income/estate tax benefits. The property is irrevocably deeded to the charity.
