What is Going On at ISRR

For the month of July 2008. Updated June 19, 2008

    Patterns

This month there has been a large number of birthparents registering to locate multiple children (anywhere from two to twelve) who were raised in foster care or adopted. Also, many siblings registered seeking more than one sibling, or half-sibling, raised in adoption or foster care. And even an aunt who promised to find her sister's children. Though these type of registrations are common at ISRR, there have just been way more than usual this month. So, far we have three matches for these families and maybe more on the way.

    New Registrations & Updates

On average ISRR receives somewhere between 100 and 300 new registrations each week. The beginning of summer we usually see less registrations and updates arriving than other months. Probably because of school ending, graduations, weddings and all the family things that occur. Processed to date this month are:

MISSING REGISTRANTS: These cases are matches or possible matches, but the registrants need to update their files with ISRR. We are attempting to contact all but often the addresses and phone numbers are out-of-date. In some cases, they need to get their non-identifying or other information. If you see the date of birth on your case listed here, please download a new registration form or update form, fill it out as completely as possible, and mail it in to us. We cannot answer questions about any of these over the phone without first receiving a signed update.

Keep Your Address and Phone Number Current

If you think your address or phone number may be out-of-date with ISRR, please click on UPDATE , download the form, fill it out, sign it and mail to ISRR. We spend more time trying to locate registrants who have not kept their contact information current than on any other aspect. We never want to miss being able to put family together because an address is old.

Get More Info ~ Early this year we had a match for twins. One thought she might have a twin, the other had no knowledge of having a twin. Neither had acquired non-identifying information from the state or agency. There is always hope and usually ways to acquire more data on your family. We want to encourage you to click on "Get More Info" for guidelines to assist you in acquiring additional information. So often, one more piece can complete the puzzle or help us determine relationship. Gather as much information as you can and please remember to send us updates.

Please always remember that you are not alone. We receive many thousands of new registrations each year and do matches nearly every single day. There are search and support resources all over the world, and hundreds of thousands who have gone before you in a quest for family.

We work hard to keep this registry free to registrants and are grateful for your generous contributions which allows this service to continue uninterrupted since 1975.
